Through filmmaking I want to enter foreign realms. I search for answers the real world doesn’t often provide. I write my own stories because I need to process what lives inside of me.
Filmmaking is like choreography. I first choose the music. Then I can add movement. It usually comes from a theme, a chord or a feeling. Something I have a hard time shaking. After I have that in store, I know the rest has a good chance to flow.
When the story makes it to the screen, it is no longer mine. I know I’ve played my part. And I remain the witness of an idea that first chose me to bring it to life.

GRIT was made during the pandemic. Because of all the constraints imposed upon us, I couldn’t make the short I had first envisioned. Instead of letting the context dictate the process, I chose to pivot and turn obstacles into creative opportunities.
GRIT reflects that boldness of claiming what you intrinsically believe is true, standing for it, going after it.
