A bit of who I am and how I got here.
I grew up in a home where music was part of daily life and going to the movies a monthly ritual. That shaped me in a way it took years to fathom.
Eventually I became a filmmaker, a musician, and a writer. I started a journaling practice when I was ten. I haven’t stopped since then. Writing is where I find my bearings. The place I go to when I need to process things. Whether joyful or excruciating, whimsical or disturbing, even tragic. To gain clarity and comprehension, I need to put the feelings down on the page.
Sometimes people call me old-fashioned. Although I’m grateful for my phone and all it allows me to do, I still carry a pen and a notebook everywhere I go.
Leading a creative life didn’t come easy for me. I knew it was all I ever wanted but what can a 13 year old girl do when she is told art is not a career but a hobby?
I trained at three different Universities in three different countries - La Sorbonne in Paris, Universidad Complutense in Madrid, NYU in New York - a deliberate way to get creative and stretch my own mind. My educational background is not really art-oriented but somehow it led me to what I do now. I guess, in the end, it all makes sense.
I like when art leaves me speechless. When I’m in awe with intensity and depth put on display. That’s what happened when I decided to learn how to make movies. That’s what happened when I decided to explore the sound of my own voice.
I’m glad you got here and I hope that you get to live a creative life as well. In your own terms. Following your own calling.
